About Kelly and David:

Kelly and David met when they were 18 and always dreamed of one day owning a beautifully curated Boutique Bed &Breakfast.

Kelly was brought up on a Yorkshire farm B&B, where the love of the outdoors, providing great hospitality and food, were a way of life.

David spent over 32 years in Sports, Outdoor and Fashion businesses, travelling the world extensively and staying in many 5 star hotels. Over this time he became bored of the standard hotel offer and always tried to seek out small special places, run by passionate owners, to make his travel more interesting and enjoyable.

Now after bringing up five children they are finally putting all of their passions and experience together, to offer the high quality, hospitality experience, they always dreamed of creating.

Kelly's passion is food, foraging and home brewing, along with her five children and the many animals that live on The Chestnuts Country House small holding.

Kelly always looks to create interesting seasonal breakfast menus, picking seasonal fruit that morning to make into a compote to have on your fresh Greek Yoghurt.

David is a passionate fisherman and when he is not looking after the gardens, is often out using his antique cane rods and vintage reels to catch fish the hard way!

About The Chestnuts Country House:

The Chestnuts Country House is located in the heart of the Vale of Belvoir and is a former Duke of Portland Estate Farm. It is set in over three acres of gardens and surrounded by open countryside.

David and Kelly have spent 11 years renovating the house and gardens back to their former glory. The creation of the bed and breakfast rooms in the old stables and coach house has been the last part of the project which was completed in 2021.

The accommodation comprises three king size, four poster bed, garden suites. All set in the converted coach house and stable block, with access to and views across, the gardens.

Breakfast is served either in the main house at a large gothic dining table, with a roaring fire in winter. Or when the weather permits, on the walled garden terrace, with views across the vale to St Mary's Church Bottesford and Belvoir Castle.

There is a large car park and the property benefits from the security of electric gates.

The Vale of Belvoir and surrounding countryside offers great walking, cycling and hacking opportunities.

There are plenty of great restaurants and country pubs in the local villages, all situated between 5 and 10 minutes car ride; or for those guests looking for a little more exercise, some are walkable along country paths and roads. This makes for a rewarding halfway point in a walk!

Belvoir Castle and its renowned "Engine Yard" artisan retail, is only 15 minutes car ride away.

Other attractions like Eden Spa, Belton House, and the historic market town of Newark upon Trent are all within 20 minutes drive. Nottingham with all of its attractions is 40 minutes drive. Grantham and Newark Rail stations are both 20 minutes away and offer excellent connections to London Kings Cross (1hr 10m) or the North.

Horses and horse boxes can also be accommodated by prior arrangement and fees. Arena UK is only 20 minutes drive.

Free Wifi is available, however due to our rural location, it can be slow. This provides a great opportunity to practise mindfulness...

Kelly and David have lived in the area for over twenty years and can offer seasoned recommendations for dining or great days out.
